About Us
Our story
We would like to welcome you to our site. We are a husband and wife team who decided to merge our unique perspectives to create Akhanay Coffee. My wife is Thai, who currently resides in Bangkok, Thailand. I am a Texan, born and raised in San Antonio.
In Thai, the word Akhanay (pronounced Ahk-ha-nay) means South East. I lived and worked in Thailand for 3 years sourcing SE Asian coffees for a wholesale coffee roaster located in Bangkok. My journey in Specialty Coffee began over 7 years ago. So when it was time for me to move back to San Antonio, it made sense to us that we continue our coffee journey, by creating a coffee company that specializes in sourcing SE Asian Coffees.
Our goal is to share our love of Thai & SE Asian Culture by sourcing the Best Coffees this region has to offer. Our hope is to also share with you our love of SE Asian desserts, like Tua Grob Geaw (Candied Peanuts), Dok Jok (Lotus Flower Cookies), Sankaya Bei Teuy (Pandan Custard), and Pa Thong Ko (Thai donuts).
